wine table
Has anyone made a “wine tasting table” with an old wine barrel and a round of glass?

I know I need at least 1/2″ glass. Will a 36″ round be large enough or will I need 42″? Will I need to secure the glass to the top or will the weight of the glass be enough?
Did you, or would you, put polyurethane on the outside of the barrel? This will be going in my basement.

It is always best to go with the 42″ 36 is just to short for my taste, I just used a small rubber around the top of the barrel to keep the glass from sliding around on the barrel top. Good luck and enjoy. You can use any type of rubber you want even and old rubber tire cut will work in my pieces.just enough to keep it from sliding as I said.
