Light causes the wine to age ahead of time, making it in your best interest to store wine in a dark location.

To prevent damage to the wine from sediment, you should also store wine in a place that is free of vibration. Vibrations are by no means a good thing for wine, seeing that the sediment grows to be unsettled and can devastate the wine or shake it to the point where it tastes awful.
