I need advice regarding my Wedding Registry?

I have registered at Macy’s, Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Target and MyRegistry.com. I feel that it is too much. but I can not figure out which ones to get rid of …
Macy’s has our china, formal stemware, vacuums, bathroom accessories, pillows etc.
Pottery Barn has our couch (FI side is getting it for us:), throws & pillows, monogramed bedding, wine glasses, lamps, frames and stuff like that
Willams Sonoma is all kitchen stuff obviously
MyRegistry .com has our Honeymoon Fund, A local place to buy trees, our everyday table ware and glasses, rains barrels, electronics and other neat items that we really like from various stores.
Target has various items (the only reason i registered at Target is for less expensive items but there really is not much of a price difference between Macy’s and Target)

I DO NOT want to appear greedy nor do I want my regiestry to appear too high end. I certainly want there to be gifts for everyones budget. Please help me make these decisions!

Wow…that really does sound like overkill at first glance but I do understand why you’ve chosen the different stores though.

My first suggestion is getting rid of the honeymoon fund. Presumably you have already planned your honeymoon and it ought to be one that you can afford to pay for as grown adults. If people want to give money they will – and you may use it how you wish. But it’s really TACKY to ask wedding guests to specifically pay for your vacation. Sorry.

As far as the other lists go, Macy’s (china), Williams-Sonoma (kitchenware) and Target (less expensive housewares) make sense. I suggest keeping those lists and trimming them to the things you really want/need. Get rid of the Pottery Barn list. You’re already getting your couch, no one needs monogrammed bedding and you’ve already got stemware covered on the Macy’s list. Will you be sleeping without blankets if you get rid of the Pottery Barn list? I think not.

Trust me….I’ve seen plenty of weddings and if you register for too much you’ll end up with NO sets of anything and you’ll have to return a bunch to narrow it down to what you REALLY want. Why not just narrow it now?

I once saw a wedding registry where each single wine glass was $106 and this was not a couple with wealthy social connections. Guests felt stupid giving ONE wine glass. The couple received SEVEN picnic baskets and couldn’t quite figure out why because they did not register for a picnic basket. See where I’m going with this?
