Stemless wine glasses all the rage for casual dining

Have you seen that there has been an upswing in the use of stemless wine glasses recently?

In casual settings it is not always appropriate to bring out your regular long stemmed wine glasses that risk the chance of toppling over on unstable surfaces and having expensive wine spilled onto clothing and rugs, which is why stemless wine glasses are becoming very fashionable.

The great thing about stemless wine tumblers is that they are very stable – they are great for outdoor eating at BBQ’s, on a yacht or power boat (when anchored of course), parties where the guests are wine enthusiasts, or large dinners.

On many an occasion of hosting a dinner we have had many an expensive well made wine spilled onto table cloths, rugs and guests clothing – embarrassing for the guest and a waste of good wine.

When I went searching for stemless Pinot noir glasses I determined to use wine glasses that not only helped display the wine at its inherent best, but also would look great on the table. The glass needed to be practical for use in large numbers but also able to assist my friends to uncover all that the wine has to offer. The most important part of a Pinot Noir tumbler is the bowl that holds the wine as this determines where the wine will be delivered onto the palate of the wine taster.

For my casual dinner parties especially outdoors summer BBQ’s with beef and grilled butterflied legs of lamb I also require stemless cabernet glasses to be exact. We dine outdoors a lot during summer, either at home or at the beach and these stemless cabernet glasses are fantastic on outdoors furniture which in many cases can sometimes be less than stable.

Many of our casual guests prefer white meats to steaks or lamb, and as I am very enthusiastic about great chardonnays, I found these fantastic stemless Riedel wine glasses for chardonnay enthusiasts. Because the chardonnay wine bowl stands taller than that found on red wine glasses this particular wine glass has a base that will assist stability.
