Good Red Wine Picks

There are times when we need a good red wine. Whether it is for a dinner or for quiet evening at home. Red wines are awesome! However, not all red wines are made equal. Some can be just horrible and have earned the epitome by some as “cheap red wine” or wines that should not be drunk. But, there are some good red wines out there that are cheaply priced but are great. I consider those to be rare gems that I truly enjoy discovering. I am going to share some these gems today.

Falesco Vitiano Rosso 2008

This is a delightful young Italian red wine. The aromas in this wine are luscious and explodes on the tongue. This deep red wine has aromas of ripe black cherries, licorice, and tobacco leaf. This  wine goes well with various dishes, meat and pasta especially. This  red wine was rated 89 points by The Wine Advocate. This is definitely a good red wine that is great for any mood and setting and it is under $20.

Bouchard Aine & Fils Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2007

This is a delicious well balanced french red wine. This red wine has aromas of cherry, kirsch with notes of lime and mint. But then also a delicate woodsy aroma moves to balance out the fruitiness. You cannot help but feeling that there is good harmony to the overall taste. It is truly good red wine at its best. This wine goes well with poultry, grilled and roasted red meats and some cheeses. This wine is a little over $20.

Tilia Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

This lovely Argentinian wine is plum in color with tones of red. This red wine has the aromas of sweet red cherries, sweet spices and a pinch of tobacco. It feels both fruit layered and dark on the tongue. It is delightful bouquet of sweet fruitiness mixed with the darkness of coffee beans. Another good red wine that is not to be missed!  This wine goes well with most meats and cheeses. Tilia Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 has been rated 91 points by Wine & Spirits. It is also a virtual steal at under $18 too.

Dona Paula Estate Malbec 2009

This is another great Argentinian red wine. Dark purple is its color. Aromas of black cherries, plums, licorice and dried herbs waft up to you from your glass. It feels absolutely deliciously smooth yet supple in the mouth. If you are looking for a great Malbec wine at a low price then this is it. This red wine is great with roasted lamb, poultry, red meat. This wine has a rating of 90 points from Wine Spectator. At a little over $20, good red wine doesn’t get any better.

I hope my wine gems help to save some time and money. Who says all good red wine has to be expensive anyway?
