christmas hamper ideas?

Me and hubby doing a christmas hamper for his mum and stepdad but im in need of some ideas.We gonna put some wine in it a a lovely decoated picture frame with picture of new baby in it (due in oct) but need ideas on other bits to put in and ideas on how to decorate the basket.Thanks

For gift baskets/hampers, it’s best to pick a theme. Otherwise, it’s all over the place, and though it can be fun (Christmas stockings are like that), it can also seem disjointed – and edn up totally breaking the bank. So I would suggest you pick one basic theme. You say you want to put in wine, so just add some nice crackers and cheeses, some chocolates, a few candles, and a nice throw blanket and you’re good. The baby’s picture can go in too, or you could give it as a separate gift. The basket should be left fairly plain, as if you take a busy looking basket and fill it with items, the whole thing looks busy and your eye doesn’t have anything “calm.” I would recommend a natural wood basket, or one that looks like it, or black or white. Red and green may be Christmas-y, but it would probably be too much. You could, however, probably get away with wrapping a thin ribbon around the edge of the basket or the handle, and tying it in a small bow. For filler (the stuff that goes in the basket, between the items), you can use something more eye catching, such as metallic shred, or even fake flowers or pine cones. Making a gift basket/hamper look good is all about balance.
