Wine Connoisseurs, help!!- Red wine similar to White Zinfandel??

I’m going to an Italian restaurant for dinner. I would like to try a red wine, but am very hesitant. I most often of the white wines drink White Zinfandel. Of the red wine list choices from the menu I pasted below, is there anything similar?

White Zin is usually classified as a rose, and that is very sweet. Jumping to a red is going to be an awakening.

I don’t see it on the wine list, but I would recommend a Gamay Beaujolais (sp?).

On the list above I would say go with one of the two Pinot Noirs. I don’t know the Estancia specifically, but the others I know are very nice. The Coppola Pinot is nice and enjoyable.

On a side note, that is a nice looking wine list. If you really get stuck a cool bartender or wine steward will help you out.
