Which country produces the best white wine?

Germany, New Zealand, Spain?

Whats Greek like?

Yeah, France has it hands down. Name a famous varietal and France is among the top three in terms of quality production. But, for my money, you start with white Burgundies, which are considered by many to be the best white wines on earth (certainly the most expensive). To me, the only real challenger to white Burgundies are German Reislings.

Germany has a ton of regional varietals that are rarely seen outside of Germany that are truly excellent in the right producer’s hands.

New Zealand is very much a strong white wine producing country. I’m a big fan of their sauvignon blancs, but they need to develop more breadth to come close to European countries.

Spain has many good mostly unknown white wines that are created for enjoyment in youth and with food. However, they are not well known for making age worthy whites (although they have a few). Most wine people would not consider Spain a major quality white epicenter.

Greek wines are nasty, with only a few exceptions.

I’d rank the countries as follows.
1) France. Great earlier posting.
2) Germany. In the US, German wines are incredibly underappreciated, but they are unique and as exciting as anywhere.
3) USA. With their more liberal labeling and growing laws, Americans make a lot of underappreciated whites, dabbling in varieties and styles from all over the world. They make a lot of junk too, but so do the French.
4) Italy. They make a lot of very good everyday whites, but don’t make enough age worthy wines.
